Graphic Recording Training
This online graphic recording course will teach you how to become a graphic recorder – whether you want to offer it as a professional service, bring it into your organisation, or simply transform how you capture and communicate ideas.
You’ve seen it. Someone standing at the front of the room, drawing on an iPad or on a virtual whiteboard and somehow capturing a whole conversation in real-time drawings. They manage to turn ideas into images. They clarify complex discussions with clear, memorable pictures. And you thought: I want to do that.
You’re in the right place.
You don’t need to be an artist. We teach drawing fundamentals in Week 1. What you need is curiosity, a willingness to practise and take feedback, and 12 weeks to build a skill that could genuinely change your working life.
Graphic recording (also called live scribing, graphic harvesting, or live illustration) turns spoken ideas into visual summaries that people actually remember and share. It’s the skill behind those big, colourful meeting murals – and also the smaller sketchnotes that capture learning in notebooks and tablets.
Your trainer, Cara Holland, has been graphic recording professionally for 20 years, working globally with organisations including Google, DHL and the NHS. She’s taught students from 92 countries. She’s condensed 20 years of professional experience and in-person training into this practical online course.
This isn’t passive video learning and it’s definitely not checkbox ticking. It’s 12 weeks of doing, practising, getting feedback from Cara, trying again, and building real skills with weekly lessons to do in your own time, all the while supported as an individual by your trainer in an online class community of no more than 20 people.
Registration officially closed on 15th September 2026.
We still have a few places left, so if you want to train online with individual tutor feedback from Cara Holland, this is your final chance… We’re changing our course offer in 2027!

What people say about our graphic recorder training
Your graphic recording trainer Cara Holland

Cara has been a professional graphic recorder for 20 years, working in the UK and around the world. She has built up a successful UK graphic recording business with all kinds of organisations as clients, from the NHS to Google to IKEA.
Cara has developed her own personal graphic recording style and methods through trial and error and has put all of that learning into this step-by-step graphic recorder course.
What Cara says about this Graphic Recording course
The thing with doing graphic recording is that a big part of the ‘magic’ involved is not magic at all… it’s totally learnable. Ideas plus techniques plus practise makes a graphiker (yes, it is a word!). Whatever you call it, you can learn to be a live scribe, you can learn to be a sketchnoter, you can learn to be a graphic harvester!
I’ve done my 10,000 hours of practise, learning from my mistakes along the way. So I knew we had to build an online course that wasn’t about learning information. It wasn’t about ticking boxes on a quiz to see if you’ve briefly remembered facts, or watching videos of someone talking at you in a way you can’t absorb. This graphic recording course had to be about getting you drawing (digital or analogue), doing lots of real life assignments to already start to enhance your portfolio, and giving you lots of practical examples, tools and techniques to absorb, practise and make your own.
I give you my knowledge and experience, and you bring the practise. It’s the deal we make when you sign up to Be a Graphic Recorder. When we both do our bit …well I don’t mind saying that bit is the magic!
